Rio
Grande River Rafting September 22-23, 2006 |
|
I left work (www.plll.com) at 5:00pm and met Mike and Mike at my house. We arrived in Study Butte around 11:00pm, after stopping for dinner. Mike, Mike and I climbed a hill behind the Chisos Mining Company Hotel to do a little star gazing, then we went to bed. At 7:45am we were at Far Flung Adventures getting ready for our trip. We were introduced to Taz, our river guide to the day. Taz was fantastic. She took good care of us and she has a great personality. We were on the river by about 9:30am, and this is what happened.

The following day we rented two inflatable kayaks or duckies from Far Flung Adventures and put in at Colorado Canyon in Big Bend Ranch State Park. Here is a Big Bend Ranch State Park river map. We floated this section twice. The first time we took out at Grassy Banks, the second time at La Cuesta. The good rapids are between Colorado Canyon river access and La Cuesta river access. And, of course there was a little problem with a motorcycle about 4 hours into the back country of Big Bend National Park. But that's another story...
